Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya: Sooner or Later

Each have bouts scheduled against TBA opponents, and HBO has already lined up several decent scraps between lesser names. Superstars Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, and Roy Jones Jr. The fall boxing lineup looks to be highly entertaining.

But despite the exciting potential, boxing still needs a jumpstart to excite more casual fans. That impetus would come from a Manny Pacquiao-Oscar De La Hoya fight.

These potential fights will likely prevent any Pacquiao-De La Hoya bout in the mix, his future will suffer. The matchup makes perfect sense.

De La Hoya is not the great fighter he used to be, so it would be interesting to see if he could keep the robust Filipino off of him. Pacquiao walks around at 150 plus pounds in between fights, and considering he’s carried his power up with him as he rises in weight, it would be fascinating to see how he handled a welterweight frame. The fight would likely be competitive as well.
